Book-Cycle is a registered charity based in Exeter, England. We collect unwanted books and trees, and house them in one of our 'free' bookshops. Here you are invited to choose up to 3 books per person per day and pay whatever you wish! After minimal running costs, half the proceeds send relevant literature to developing countries, while the other half goes to planting trees around Britain. Book-Cycle also offers a range of other free services including internet access, a “Bring Your Own Art” exhibition, independent film screenings and seed banks. Book-Cycle is run entirely by volunteers and seeks to promote a fair, more enlightened vision of the future. The Exeter shop is part of an early Tudor building, located next to Stepcote Hill and St Mary’s Church. This is one of the oldest parts of Exeter and site of the Westgate, Stepcote Hill is the oldest road in Exeter. We love our shop, we think it’s beautiful! Book-Cycle Brighton has moved to the amazing Coachwerks, Hollingdean! Courtesy of KingGiorgos- a short film highlighting the plight of education in Africa. Why not send a few books of your own? For less than £1 you can send a book or two to some of the poorest areas of the world and have a dramatic and long lasting affect on some of the children living there. A parcel of less than 5kg will cost about £24. For instructions on what to send and how see our DIY page. The Book-Cycle Bus
The Book-Cycle bus (Bertie) is privately owned but the use of it is being donated as a MOBILE SHOP to attend a variety of events across the UK. The very kind owners are funding the conversion and maintenance of the bus, therefore keeping overheads to a minimum.
