How to send your own books to one of our Partner Charities.

• Find a box about twice the size of a shoe box. (A larger box can be used then cut down to size). Fill the box with the books you have chosen. Check the weight DOES NOT EXCEED 5KG (a full shoe box is about 2.5kg).

- Twana Twitu & TunaHAKI – Kids fiction and non-fiction (3-18 yrs)
- E-YES – Kids books, Reader’s Digest condensed (only the very good collections, most of the newer ones
                 are cheap thriller and  war novels).
- Azafady – Kids and adults books across all genres. French – English Dictionaries.
- Sukhavati – Any kids books, preferably educational material (3-15 yrs)
- Jonang Takten Phunstok Choeling – Beginners reading books and educational books for children 6-20 yrs.
                                                             Adv. Buddhism / Yoga / Meditation for tutors and elder students.

 Most of our partner charities want books for children aged 3-15 yrs old. Unless otherwise stated,
they like a collection of books both for education and enjoyment.

PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY BOOKS OF A MAGICAL OR RELIGIOUS NATURE
DUE TO CULTURAL DIFFERENCES.

• Write a short note or card to go in the box. Give it a personal touch, mention something about yourself, you could draw a picture or attach a photo. (please acknowledge Book-Cycle in the note) and seal the box with tape, making sure the books are secure.
• Find some plain A4 paper, in marker pen write the address of the partner charity you are sending the books to. Underneath write the message for parcel handlers (above in bold). Make sure you write this as clearly as possible.
  
  
  You are now ready to post the parcel. Head to the nearest post office and request to send the
  parcel via surface mail or airmail. State that the contents are printed materials.

It should cost no more than £24 by Surface Mail and up to £54 by Air Mail.
Surface Mail: 7-8 Weeks                  Air Mail: 8-10 Days

We try not to send anything by airmail because of the increased carbon foot print, though sometimes it is necessary when establishing new contacts. The bulk of books destined for our partner charities can now travel for free, by piggy-backing in other people’s container shipping. Please check where the next shipment is and where it is destined for.

You may want to find new ways of getting books around the world. For instance, one day we hope to have access to a cargo sail ship that is capable of getting to Mombasa, mainly by the use of the wind. Another proposal is to have a stall at some of the major airports so that holiday makers might be persuaded to carry some of our books with them.
