Sukhavati Boarding School - Kalimpong, India The Sukhavati Boarding Hostel was built by the local villagers of Zuluk, West Bengal. Most of the adult villagers are illiterate but they have a strong desire to educate their children and better their future prospects.
The project began under the guidance of Penjo Bhutia (Paljor), a Tibetan Monk, in November 2005 and was completed in February 2007. The hostel enables 45 children to receive education without paying accommodation fees. Penjo Bhutia runs another school which allows 115 children from the village to attend and further their education. By this thought, he explains his engagement: "Education of children is the seed of basic development, which builds the leaders of tomorrow." We are hoping to unite further by helping Penjo Bhutia fundraise for a new classroom facility in 2011. We send them a variety of educational and reading books for children
