Book-Cycle & Thrive Africa

We are dispatching a 20ft container destined for the region of Ashanti in Northern Ghana in partnership with the volunteers of Thrive Africa. The container will be loaded with educational and recreational books, classroom resources and building materials, which will travel via sea freight to the Port of Tema.

Many of our volunteers are helping to make parcels, choosing which books to box up and send to the libraries in Ashanti . We have collected books from local primary schools in Okehampton,  Ashburton and Departments at Exeter College have also provided useful teaching and higher education resources. Many kind donations have also been pouring in our shop door from the local residents of Exeter -
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!

Container packed and ready to travel ~ The many helping hands of Book-Cycle

After the container has been packed and sent, a group of 13 volunteers will arrive in Tema and drive
the shipment North through Ghana to Ashanti.

During their 4 week programme the volunteers will aim to assist 6 rural communities through educational development, offering health and sanitation workshops to teachers and pupils, developing classroom environments and establishing school libraries filled with wonderful books donated from Exeter!
